Oct. 7 (UPI) — As the 2022 hurricane season continues, a new tropical typhoon formed Friday off Colombia, but is expected to threaten the United States.
The Colombian government has issued a warning for San Andres, Providence and the Santa Catalina Islands. The Nicaraguan government has also issued a surveillance.
The typhoon is not expected to reach the United States, but it may only reach South and Central America.
“The center of Julia is expected to cross the southwestern Caribbean Sea for the next two days, passing near the islands of San Andres and Providencia on Saturday night and reaching the coast of Nicaragua on Sunday morning,” the NHC said. “After landing, Julia or her The wreckage is expected to turn west-northwest and cross Central America until Monday. “
