One of the most unique things about my job is seeing other people at all stages of life. I have noticed that more people replace tasks, retire, get married, divorce, have children, have grandchildren, etc. than most people you know. After more than two decades of helping other people manage their finances and their lives, I’ve noticed pretty much everything.
I say this just to emphasize that my painting comes with an attitude that most people don’t see. I just see other people going through each and every level of life thousands of times, making important decisions and taking big steps along the way.
In recent months, I’ve noticed that more people change their lives with basic changes than at any other time I’ve witnessed. I call it “The Great Change. “
Here’s what I’ve observed: I’ve developed more financial plans about what happens if other people quit their jobs, take a new job, divorce, or move randomly than at any other time in my career that’s over 20. . Just last week, I made 3 plan updates: two other people needed to replace jobs and one was missing separation.
The appeal of them is that when asked why, their answers were eerily similar. Everyone said something like, “I can stay in my current situation, but you know what?Possibly I wouldn’t be happy. One of my most productive friends, a successful entrepreneur, told me that he is exhausted and needs to leave the fair to continue his fondness for cars. For many, that mind and adjustments were strange two years ago, though not today, not with the “Great Change” between us.
The two things everyone I’ve met this year says are:
Slow applause for all of you, because replacing is complicated and complacency is easy. In fact, I think waking up one day and knowing that you are not satisfied with your current life and then having the courage to do something about it is super impressive. First of all, you have to be able to recognize that something is wrong. This point of self-awareness is impressive in itself. Then, it requires a thorough examination of what it would take to make you truly happy.
When I am confronted each and every week with clients looking to make drastic changes in their lives, I continually ask myself, “Why so much change?”My most productive guess is COVID. I think we all have two years to think about, because we’ve been locked in our homes. Those times spent under a microscope that is not only a short life, but also our own happiness is something we all seek. If you haven’t been satisfied in the last couple of years, you’ve identified that it’s time for a change.
Is my assumption about the Great Change correct? Only time will tell, but I can say that my knowledge suggests it, due to the nature of what I do in those days.
I think COVID has given us the most of a new look at life. This gave us the opportunity to analyze our existing scenario and appreciate it more, or realize that we were looking for a change, because you’ve only been dancing on this earth for a little while (thank you, Cat Stevens).
I know I have a new one after COVID. Heck, I even like to move on to a baseball game now just to enjoy the quality weather, the new air, and the old smart American pastime.
When I entered the financial industry, I focused on how to financially advise Americans through those other stages of life successfully, and I found it rewarding and engaging to see other people succeed.
Today, I have a different attitude when I treat Americans and give them advice. That’s not to say I don’t focus much on helping them reach their financial goals, as that’s the foundation of what I do. However, those days I enjoy the art of making monetary plans more. I joke that making monetary plans is a science and an art. The artistic aspect is knowing how to consult people, make them listen, deepen to locate their true passions and fears, and despite everything in achieving happiness. This goes beyond investment, modeling, taxation and insurance: it’s just the equipment and the science.
For me, money-making plans are more about helping my clients love their lives and using those tools to fully announce those joys in their lives.
Yes, I love what I do and I love the other people I do it for. Helping other people to achieve their goals in life so that they can achieve true happiness is literally our project and my passion. a lot of apprehension Ultimately, my colleagues and I appreciate the opportunity to come together at a deeper point to actually help advise all the other people we are lucky enough to contact.
If you are looking to make a first update in your life, do yourself a favor and contact your finance team so that you have a spouse to advise you before, during, and after the update, because I will need you.
