Intruders stormed the set of a major Ecuadorian television station in the port city of Guayaquil.
The violence occurred hours after the country’s president declared a state of emergency.
The intruders occupied the television station’s studio for about 30 minutes and it took 30 minutes for the police to arrive.
The declaration was made after the escape of a high-profile gang leader from prison.
There are now heightened fears of further violence in a bloody criminal turf war.
