Temporary to load up to 35 trucks per day; The station will serve as a style for the transition to heavy electrification

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 6, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Terawatt Infrastructure, a company that powers electrified fleets with the most reliable network of charging solutions, introduced a transient charging solution designed for quick use in heavy-duty fleets at its Commerce, California site. With the opening of the site, Terawatt gives early adopter fleets the opportunity to refine EV operations and mitigate long runway times for EV charging.

Commerce allows fleets to take advantage of strategically placed fast charging, avoiding long runs and enabling delays. This state-of-the-art technique maximizes truck utilization and complements the commercial price by seamlessly integrating fast charging into existing routes for fleets serving the Inland Empire and ports. Lately, it is the only provider to offer a pilot project for transitional pricing.

Commerce, located near downtown Los Angeles, is one of the world’s largest intermodal freight hubs and a key destination for drayage operators bringing containers to and from railyards. Throughout 2024, the site will offer 450 kW of charging capacity for up to 35 daily charges. Following construction in early 2025, the site will reopen as a 10MW facility with 21 charging stalls and a driver amenities building, all fully underpinned by Terawatt’s proprietary Charge Management Software and robust operations and maintenance program.

“Terawatt views the location of our Commerce location in California as critical to delivering an optimal charging experience where drivers conduct their daily operations,” said Mike Englhard, Terawatt’s lead progression director. “Offering freight in Commerce allows drivers to enjoy the same direction they are accustomed to today. “

“We are committed to a tailored electrification technique that meets fleets where they are,” said Neha Palmer, co-founder and CEO of Terawatt. “The Commerce site is an example of charging infrastructure that can be had today, allowing fleets to advance their electrification adventure while long-term infrastructure projects move forward together. We are committed to leveraging our portfolio of assets. roots and have energy to use now so fleets can smoothly transition to electric operations. ”

In addition to Commerce, Terawatt plans to launch four new sites this year, adding LAX in early 2024, Rancho Dominguez, California in mid-2024, and Rialto, California through late 2024. Strategic locations for those upcoming sites aim to make electrification more available for fleets, under the Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) regulation.

Increasing access to various charging sites, both permanent and temporary, demonstrates the viability of an electrification transition that is available today, made possible by working with existing infrastructure as fleets and providers await regulatory developments.
