Tennis star Novak Djokovic is free to play at the 2023 US Open with President Joe Biden to pass a new policy that will eliminate COVID-19 vaccine requirements.
The world No. 2 abstained from traveling through the United States and Australia in 2022 due to policies requiring foreign travelers to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Vaccination mandates are no longer in position for the United States as of May 11 after the adoption of H. J. Res 7 in the Senate.
Djokovic missed the Indian Wells Masters and Miami Open, but will now return for the most important annual event in the USA. U. S.
The Serbian was unable to participate in the 2022 Australian Open due to the country’s own COVID-19 measures at the time.
“I’ve never opposed vaccination, but I’ve supported the freedom to decide what you put in your body,” Djokovic told the BBC last year.
He made an emphatic return in 2023 after restrictions were lifted, showing no signs of rusting to win six of his seven straight-set matches to win a record tenth at the Australian Open.
The passage of the new Senate bill comes after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis continually criticized Biden’s administration for having arrest warrants in place.
“They don’t let Djokovic come to America to play the US Open because of the shooting! He already had COVID,” M. Desantis said.
“And shooting doesn’t stop you from getting that. It’s so strange. It’s so stupid that they’re doing this, yet there were a lot of those weird policies in the other states. “

The president and CEO of the U. S. Travel AssociationU. S. Secretary of State Geoff Freeman said approving the bill would be a stimulus to tourism and the country’s economy.
“Today’s bipartisan action through Congress to lift the vaccine requirement in the United States removes a vital barrier to access for many global ers that will move our country forward,” he said.
Djokovic will make his 17th appearance at the US Open in August if he continues to have compatibility while targeting his fourth name at the event.
