With existing travel restrictions due to COVID-19, dreams of an idyllic holiday in Italy are out of reach. But that doesn’t mean we can barely explore his know-how and his little craftsmen. Two friends from Bologna, Italy, Stefania Inama and Claudia Maresca, have partnered with some of Italy’s most elegant hotels to bring the most productive Italian fashion and accessories to your home in their new project, The Dressing Screen Italian Summer. The Dressing Screen is an e-commerce platform launched in June 2019 and featuring more than 80 exclusive Italian-made brands with fine artisans and small Italian brands with impeccable taste and craftsmanship.
Having exclusive local designers for the holidays is one of the greatest pleasures of travel, and TDS Italian Summer will offer a new platform to help those artisans when tourism is restricted. Allison Hoeltzel, the project’s fashion director, said: “I was talking to Mariella at Palazzo Avino, I was thinking about how bad it was for her to have a complete store with the exclusive products they had decided months before, but she was doubtful in whether the hotel could open. The Dressing Screen came to the brain because it may only be offering an online e-commerce platform to give foreign visibility not only to those stores, but also to the great hotels. At a time when other people can’t travel, The Dressing Screen can bring a little bit of Italy around the world.”
Stefani Inama, co-founder of The Dressing Screen, said: “Allison and I started hearing our American friends coming to Italy for the summer holidays, having to cancel their travels and their sadness at not being able to make a stopover at their beloved Italy.Array Then we thought, ‘We believe a beautiful excursion’ virtual ‘that can entertain and buy, allowing those who make a stopover to buy an exclusive piece of their favorite Italian province. And so, then we went (practically of course) to organize that. “
The tour takes us through Italy with travel tips, launches of other hotels and a glimpse of those adorable craftsmen. The rooms have beautiful clothes and accessories, beautiful crockery, homemade olive oil, wine, perfumes and toiletries. The hotels are among the most productive in Italy, adding Borgo Egnazia in Puglia, Il Borro in Tuscany, Palazzo Avino on the Amalfi Coast, Verdura Resort in Sicily and Grand Hotel Tremezzo on Lake Como. These hotels not only took care of finding a new selling point to sell their products, but they have a deep connection with their regions, their artisans and the soul of Italian craftsmanship, and sought to help them in those difficult times. Camilla Sell Melpignano of Borgo Egnazia says: “I felt the desire to do anything to spread the dominance of the other people of Puglia that I met here. The garments and dresses of our boutique at the Bottega Egnazia Hotel are a collection that focuses on exclusivity of 100 percent pieces made in Puglia through local artisans and seamstresses. Vittoria Ferragamo, orto del Borro d’Il Borro logo manager and head of special projects at Il Borro, said: “My variety for The Dressing Screen represents the very soul of Il Borro. That is, authenticity, quality and Tuscan character (obviously!). This is my view of the terroir at the table, from the wines of our wineries to the tomato puree of Orto (huerta) of Borro to our olive oil. All of these are biological products that showcase Italian Tuscan traditions, and also feature a diversity of fabrics and table accessories. It is a variety in which our local know-how and raw fabrics are guarantees impressive quality and representative of the excellence of Made in Italy. »
But above all, this commission celebrates the best moments with those enjoyed. Valentina De Santis of the Grand Hotel Tremezzo says: “Our T-store is like a treasure chest made 100 percent in Italy. When I personally choose each product to present, also reflecting the pieces chosen in the Italian summer assignment of TDS, I have in my brain what I would like to take as a special souvenir of an unforgettable holiday in Italy and a very special days in Lake Como. That’s what I really like to think of T Shop: it doesn’t sell products, it sells memories and dreams.
