SWS: Most Filipinos say government reaction to COVID-19 is ‘adequate’

MANILA, Philippines – Most Filipinos said the government’s reaction to involving the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) “adequate,” according to findings from a survey on social weather stations (SWS) released on Saturday.

SWS said 71% of Filipinos considered government action to “inform the public about how to fight COVID-19 is adequate. “22% said it was inadequate, while 6% were undecided.

Meanwhile, respondents found that affordable COVID-19 control of the government was adequate. 54% said affordable antivirus control was insufficient, while 11% were undecided.

The survey also found that 44% of respondents said government assistance to displaced personnel was adequate, while 46% said it was inadequate, while 9% simply did not decide.

The survey used “computer-aided telephone and mobile interviews (ITAO)” among 1,249 Filipinos over the age of 18. Of these, 309 are in the metropolitan domain of Manila, 328 in Li Luzon, 300 in Visayas and 312 in Mindanao.

SWS used a sampling margin of ± 3% for percentages, ± 6% for Greater Manila, ± 5% for Libra Luzon, ± 6% for Visayas and ± 6% for Mindanao.
