MANILA, Philippines – Fifty-seven percent of Filipinos, the worst situation in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic yet to come, showed the latest Social Weather Station Survey (SWS) published Tuesday.
On the other hand, the survey showed that 35% of Filipinos expressed confidence that the worst of the ongoing pandemic has already been left behind. This number has increased by 44% to last May’s survey results.
Most respondents who said they expected “the worst is to come” came from the metropolitan domain of Manila with 70%, followed by those of Visayas with 61%, Libra Luzon with 56% and Mindanao with 49%.
However, those who think that the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic is already behind reached from Mindanao with 41%, followed by Libra Luzon with 35%, Visayas with 33% and Metro Manila with 26%.
Currently, the total number of COVID-19s in the country is 265,888, with 4,630 deaths and 207,504 cures.
SWS said the recently published survey was a “probabilistic investigation” conducted by a cell phone and a computer-assisted phone interview.
A total of 1,555 active Filipinos (over the age of 18) participated in the survey.
The survey indicated that the survey had sampling error margins of 2% for national percentages, 6% for Metro Manila, 5% for Libra Luzon, 5% for Visayas and 5% for Mindanao.
