Swedish Coast Guard says Nord Stream leak is visual on the surface

One of two Nord Stream fuel leaks in Sweden’s exclusive economic zone remains visible on the surface of the water, according to a member of the country’s coast guard.

After conducting aerial reconnaissance around 11 a. m. Stockholm time on Tuesday, the Swedish Coast Guard said the leak “reached the surface at a measurement of approximately 20 meters (65,617 feet) in diameter. “

The break was originally the smaller of the two leaks that were revealed in Swedish dominance last week. The largest leak has not been visible on the surface since Monday morning, the coast guard said.

Last week, two more leaks were also reported in Denmark’s exclusive economic zone, triggering investigations and increasing the security of the region’s main electricity infrastructure. Nord Stream pipelines cross the Baltic Sea into Germany from Russia, operating on the seabed in waters.
