Sweden will further investigate damage to the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement Friday.
“I have decided, in combination with the security police, to conduct a number of additional investigations at the crime scene,” Mats Ljungqvist, the chief prosecutor, was quoted as saying in the statement.
“Following the request, the armed forces to assist the initial investigation,” he added.
Ljungqvist said the armed forces have the resources and expertise to investigate the crime scene “in any way we want,” adding that “all governments involved have cooperation that works well and we are working intensively with joint forces on ongoing preliminary investigations. “
He noted that Sweden is also working with the government in the countries and “cooperation is also working very well. “
“I fully perceive the wonderful interest in the ongoing initial research. But it’s important. . . now (to) get to the paintings in peace,” he added.
On September 26, there were leaks in the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, as shown through the initial effects of a Sweden-Denmark investigation, through a series of explosions allegedly due to intentional sabotage.
The Nord Stream pipelines have two lines, built to ship herbal fuel from Russia to Germany across the Baltic Sea via Russia’s state-owned fuel company Gazprom, which owns most of the infrastructure.
The leaks coincided with the opening of the Baltic fuel pipeline, which carries herbal fuel from Denmark’s North Sea to Poland.
