OSLO: Sweden has ordered further investigations into the damage done last month to the two Nord Stream pipelines, the prosecutor in charge of the case said today.
Sweden and Denmark have concluded that 4 leaks in Nord Stream 1 and 2 were caused by explosions, but did not specify who is responsible. World leaders have called it an act of sabotage.
“I am with the security police to conduct a number of additional investigations at the crime scene,” Chief Prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist said.
“The armed forces have, upon request, to lend a hand in the investigation,” he added.
The prosecutor said the armed forces had the resources to investigate the crime scene “however we would like,” but declined to comment further.
The Swedish Armed Forces said this week they were conducting an investigation of the seabed around the minesweeper leaks.
“I can verify that we, the prosecutor, carry out underwater surveys through HMS Belos,” Swedish Navy spokesman Jimmie Adamsson said in a letter.
“There is no connection between the investigations that the Swedish Armed Forces themselves are carrying out in the region and the request for support from the prosecution. “
Adamsson gave no information.
