Sweden is expected to hit NATO’s defense spending target two years ahead of schedule due to rising and weak currency, defense officials said.

The announcement comes after Sweden, along with neighboring Finland, implemented the signing of the military alliance this summer following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The candidacies of the two Nordic countries have thus been approved by 28 of the 30 members of NATO.
