Sweden is experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases and fitnesscare expects an increase in tension during the summer, the fitness minister said on Thursday.
“Many have health problems, although we are in the middle of summer. We are also seeing a slight increase in the number of COVID-19 patients wanting hospital care and intensive care,” Health Minister Lena Hallengren told a news conference. conference.
“However, we don’t see the kind of effect we saw earlier in the pandemic, I should point that out,” he said.
Cases in Sweden are difficult to track because testing is limited to other people receiving physical care, but the Health Agency said it estimated infections rose by 30 to 40 percent in recent weeks, but from low levels.
Hallengren had no restrictions but suggested others stay home in case of illness.
On Thursday, another 11 people with COVID-19 were treated in intensive care units, far from the more than 500 patients at the peak of the first wave in 2020, but more than in recent weeks.
