A close friend of Viktor Orban said Sweden and Finland could “count” on Hungary in their NATO club bids, as Budapest and Ankara continue to block progress on Nordic countries’ bids to the bloc.

Gergely Gulyas, the minister of Orban’s office, said at a briefing on Wednesday that discussions on the ratification of the military alliance’s club of nations would take position in its autumn consultation after the adoption of a series of EU-related bills.

“Finland and Sweden are our allies and they can handle us,” Gulyas said.
