Together, Clinical Genomics and GMS have established a cutting-edge framework for frequently developing, adapting and applying precision medicine in healthcare, for all patients. At all seven locations in Sweden with a medical school and a regional healthcare provider with educational hospital care, Clinical Genomics and the MSG have established nodes to facilitate the progression and optimization of new technologies and strategies and their arrival in healthcare across the country.
“It is thanks to the wonderful commitment of all enthusiasts in Sweden that we have been able to identify a national infrastructure for precision medicine. We are now seeing how whole genome sequencing and other large-scale genetic analyses are increasingly used in healthcare, with greater probabilities of targeted treatment and follow-up,” says Richard Rosenquist Brandell, director of MSG, professor at the Department of Medicine and Molecular Surgery at Karolinska Institutet and senior consultant at Karolinska University Hospital.
