The German-Omani Association, founded in 1992, seeks to expand friendly relations between the two countries and promote cooperation in the fields of culture, business, science, university and sport. Since 2007, the German Technological University (GUTech) in Halban, in close collaboration with the RWTH University of Aachen in Germany, has the flagship of bilateral cooperation in higher education.

In 2014, Germany and Oman signed a declaration of intent for cooperation in the fields of culture, education, science and research.
