“Strong advice for steroids: systemic steroids. This means steroids, whether oral or intravenous steroids, in patients with severe and critical Covid. So that’s the first tip. And the explanation for why we did that advice was because the evidence shows that if you give corticosteroids you will have, and I’m going by other numbers, 87 less consistent deaths with 1,000 patients. “So that’s all the doctors who care for Covid patients do for the sickest by taking oxygen, whether it’s through a respirator or a mask. Is that correct?” “Yeah, and we have -” “They’re taking corticosteroids. ” “- and in the guideline, it’s very transparent how we describe critical illness and critical illness in those two subgroups, those two groups of patients. ” “And those are regular patients who would be hospitalized. ” “These are under the medical care of the doctors. ” “Yes, I need to be transparent because the advice at the moment is also very important. This was conditional advice not to use corticosteroids, thus opposed to the use of corticosteroids, in patients with non-severe Covid. This means that patients who have mild symptoms, you know that they would possibly have symptoms, then possibly the symptoms are bothersome, you know that you should not forget about the symptoms that you know symptoms of mild illness because the symptoms – those can be very bothersome, without However, they do have symptoms. And I will say that clinically, physiological symptoms of an inflammatory reaction that leads to respiratory distress. “

International clinical trials published Wednesday verify the hope that reasonable and widely used steroids can help critically ill Covid-19 patients, the disease caused by coronavirus.

Based on new evidence, the World Health Organization has issued new remedy guidelines, strongly recommending steroids to treat critically ill and seriously ill patients, but not those with mild illness.

“Obviously, steroids are now care,” Dr. Howard C said. Bauchner, editor-in-chief of JAMA, who has published five articles on treatment.

The new studies came with knowledge research from seven randomized clinical trials comparing 3 steroids in more than 1,700 patients and concluded that the 3 drugs reduced the threat of death.

JAMA published this article and 3 similar studies, as well as an editorial describing the studies as “a fundamental step in the treatment of patients with Covid-19”.

Corticosteroids now deserve to be the first-line remedy for critically ill patients, the authors said. The only other drug that has been shown to be effective in critically ill patients is remdesivir.

Doctors use steroids such as dexamethasone, hydrocortisone and methylprednisolone to weaken the body’s immune system, relieving inflammation, swelling and pain. Many patients with Covid-19 do not die from the virus, but from the body’s overreaction to infection.
