Virginia reported 17,422 new coronavirus cases in the week ending Sunday, up from 17,183 last week of the virus that causes COVID-19.
Virginia ranked 12th among the states where the coronavirus spread the fastest, according to a study by Johns Hopkins University’s USA TODAY data network. Beyond the week, with 654,873 cases reported. With 2. 56 percent of the nation’s population, Virginia recorded 2. 66 percent of the nation’s cases last week. Nationwide, 16 states had more cases in the past week than in the past week.
Staunton has reported 117 cases and two deaths in the past week. A week earlier, he had reported cases and no deaths. During the pandemic, it has reported 6,916 cases and 123 deaths.
Augusta County has reported 258 cases and four deaths in the past week. A week earlier, it had reported 747 cases and deaths. During the pandemic, it has reported 22,289 cases and 228 deaths.

In Virginia, the worst weekly outbreaks per user occurred in Rockingham County with 1,110 cases per 100,000 per week; Galax County with 898; and the county of Dinwiddie with 834. The Centers for Disease Control says the network’s highest levels of transmission start at 100 instances per 100,000 per week.
Fairfax County, with 1548 instances, added the maximum number of new instances overall; Rockingham County, with 910 instances; and Prince William County, with 811. The number of weekly instances was higher in 70 counties than last week. Last week’s worst speed increases occurred in Rockingham County, Lexington and Waynesboro.

“In Virginia, instances declined in 59 counties, with the most productive declines in Harrisonburg, with -605 instances up from -115 the previous week; Augusta County, with 258 out of 747 instances; and Rockbridge County, with 48 of 519 instances. ​
In Virginia, another 107 people were reported to have died from COVID-19 in the week ending Sunday. Last week, another 104 people died.
A total of another 2,028,479 people in Virginia have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began, and another 21,356 people have died from the disease, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, another 94,190,979 people tested positive and another 1,043,840 people died.
