Mandaviya, while presiding over a virtual assembly with state health ministers, senior secretaries, other leading secretaries and data commissioners, said the country wants to be alert and fully prepared for COVID control.
The assembly was held in light of the recent increase in instances in some countries such as China, Japan, Brazil and the United States in the presence of the Minister of Health of the Union Bharati Pravin Pawar, V K Paul, member of NITI Aayog, to discuss public physical preparedness for the containment and control of COVID-19 and the advancement of the national vaccination campaign against COVID-19.
Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s message at yesterday’s high-level review meeting, Mandaviya called for being alert and preparing for COVID19 control.

“Strengthen the surveillance formula for total genome sequencing of positive case samples to track variants through the network of the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) for the immediate detection of new variants, if any, circulating in the country. It was also suggested that states and Union territories increase the testing rate from the current rate of 79 million-equivalent tests, starting the week ending Dec. 22.
They were also asked to increase the percentage of RT-PCR in the tests.

Ahead of the upcoming festive season, Manadaviya highlights the importance of public awareness campaigns related to compliance with appropriate Covid behavior.
Mandaviya called on state health ministers to monitor and review the readiness of all infrastructure and ensure they have a good enough inventory of essential medicines.
