OptumServe Hollister closed from February 23
With the number of covid-19 decreasing statewide, California public fitness officials continue to phase out now-underutilized covid-19 testing and remedy sites. That includes the Hollister OptumServe test site, which is expected to close Feb. 23, according to San Personal of Benito County.
The local site at 930 Sunset Drive, Suite 3, has in the past been the venue for Covid-19 and flu testing, as well as the county’s “test to treat” program.
OptumServe’s local cellular testing and processing sites were shut down earlier this month. Those services have also been underutilized in recent months due to the decline in Covid-19 cases and severity in San Benito County. The state’s slow closure of those services is also due to the increasing availability of over-the-counter Covid-19 testing to the public, the effects of which are not reported to public fitness departments.
OptumServe sites were a vital component of the county’s Covid-19 testing strategy and response, according to county staff. As of Feb. 18, a total of 17,642 positive cases of COVID-19 were reported in San Benito County. Currently, there are 22 active instances. A total of another 118 people have died and 469 citizens have been hospitalized with covid-19 since the pandemic began in early 2020.
Over-the-counter covid-19 testing is still available to local citizens through a number of programs. Anyone who wants to get tested or treated for COVID-19 can contact their number one care provider.
In addition, over-the-counter tests can be purchased at local pharmacies, while loose tests can be obtained through USPS. Visit special. usps/com/testkits for an order form (limit an order according to residential address).
In addition, San Benito Public Health Services will obtain loose Covid-19 tests in the coming weeks. More data related to the availability of loose testing will soon be available in the department, according to county staff.
People who test positive for Covid-19 and have symptoms are encouraged to contact their SESAME CARE healthcare or telehealth provider for more information about available medications and treatments. SESAME CARE can be reached online at sesamecare. com/covid.
Statewide since the pandemic began, 11,084,818 Californians have been tested for covid-19, according to the California Department of Public Health website. There have been 99,960 deaths from covid-19 among California citizens since the pandemic began.
