Last night, President Luis Abinader prolonged the national curfew for 25 more days and a 45-day state of emergency. The measures, which will come into force tomorrow, aim to curb coronavirus infection.
The measures are contained in Decrees 430-20 and 431-20, issued through the Presidency Communication Office.
“Extension by forty-five of the state of emergency declared in the national territory by Decree 265-20, to combat covid-19”, states Article 1 of Decree 430-20.
Article 2 provides that the branch shall endeavour to impose restrictions on promotion and transitoryness to freedom of movement, organization and assembly in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.
Also take the necessary measures to ensure that the responsiveness of public and personal hospitals to the saturation of the national fitness system is strengthened.
While with Decree 431-20, President Abinader prolonged curfew for another 25 days, a measure established by Ordinance 266-20.
Article 2 specifies that it ratifies and maintains the provisions of Decree 266-20 and their amendments.
The existing curfew is from 19:00 to 05:00 from Monday to Friday, while on Saturdays and Sundays it is from 17:00 to 05:00.
