Health officials say they fear the accumulation of COVID-19 cases across the state that continue to break records.

On Wednesday, the state fitness branch reported 91 new hospitalizations and 27 deaths, two pandemic spikes.

“The public wants to perceive that we are entering another phase of the pandemic,” said Dr. Bud Chumbley, executive director of the Wisconsin Medical Society. “I know that hospitals have staffing disorders because they have to quarantine others who have been exposed or who have COVID disease. “

Some hospitals have been forced to put on the waiting list or move patients to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Dr. Chumbley says the challenge can get worse as flu season approaches.

“[This could] lead to a shortage of hospital beds, extensive care beds, medical staff and staff,” he said.

The state has 1,933 beds available.

Currently, there are 21,004 active cases and 99,925 more people have recovered from the virus.
