Sept. 12 – CONCORD — State Fitness said it has asked the federal government for 100,000 doses of the newest booster injections for COVID-19 and that 56,000 injections have already arrived.

Omicron booster doses, also known as bivalent doses, are updated versions of the original vaccines and were recently legal through the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control.

CDC officials said anyone 12 years of age or older who has finished their number one series of COVID-19 or gained a booster dose at least two months ago gets the updated recall.

“These updated booster doses align most strongly with the new omicron variant of COVID-19 and are the most effective way to avoid serious illness, hospitalizations and deaths due to COVID-19,” said Dr. Benjamin Chan, a state epidemiologist.

“As we have noted previously, we anticipate a surge in the fall and propose that each and every 12 years or older receive an updated booster dose. “

Those looking for an up-to-date booster dose contact their GP or visit www. vaccines. nh. gov to find out where to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The state continues to update the online page as other pharmacies agreed to offer the updated booster injections.

The Department of Health and Human Services reported last week that there were 1,212 new cases of COVID-19 last week, with an average of 173 consistent with the day.

During the same period, another 96 people were hospitalized with COVID-19.

All 26 have recovered from the virus according to the New Hampshire Hospital Association.

There have been 19 existing outbreaks of COVID-19 in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and prisons.

The largest ongoing outbreak occurred at the Hillsborough County Jail, where 61 citizens and 10 members contracted the virus.

In the last week, there have been 8 new COVID deaths, bringing the total number in New Hampshire to 2670.
