The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities organized, on Saturday, the marathon “October Victory” in the New Town on October 6, the first marathon of this city.
About 500 cyclists from teams of other ages participated in the marathon, totaling 80 players from the Egyptian Cycling Federation, as well as some families of martyrs, as part of the birthday component of October’s big victories.
The ministry said in a statement that the purpose of organizing this marathon and various other occasions and sporting events is to publicize Egypt’s tourist destination, activate domestic tourism and inspire citizens to stop at their country’s various tourist and archaeological sites.
People with disabilities participated in marathon activities.
On the sidelines of the marathon, a sitting volleyball match was held between the Sports Academy team and the Salam team, which are part of the groups that participate in the tournaments organized through the Ministry of Youth and Sports to take a decision folks.
He added that the marathon featured promotional fabrics and tourist brochures about the tourist and archaeological sites enjoyed through the Egyptian tourist destination.
The Egypt Tourism Authority in Giza presented awards, certificates of recognition and mementos to the marathon winners, and also venerated some of the martyrs’ families as a sign of gratitude for the role they played for their country.
