NEW YORK (AP) – The long-standing launcher of the St. Cardinals, Louis Adam Wainwright, won the Roberto Clemente Award, awarded through the major leagues for his participation and philanthropy in the networks.

The effort provided more than four million foods to prevent children from starving, the coronavirus pandemic and nearly 8 million foods in total.
Wainwright also built Ferrier Village High School in Haiti, which opened its doors for the 2019-2020 school year while partnering with Water Mission to build a drinking water formula for the community; Funded the structure of a drinking water formula that serves more than 15,000 people in Honduras; bought 11 acres in Ethiopia for the site of a clinic and a dairy and farm; partnered with Crisis Aid International to feed young people in Africa and help victims of sex trafficking; and works with Crisis Aid to supply weekly food to 3,000 families, adding two hundred families a year in South St. Louis.

“This is the greatest honor of my entire career and it will be when I rest my head for the last time,” Wainwright said at a conference call. “That doesn’t stop me now. These players are going to listen to me more. I’ll be in his ear: “Hey, let’s do this. Let’s do that, come on.
Wainwright, 39, is a lazy agent after spending 15 seasons in his league with the Cardinals. He is three times All-Star with a 167-98 record and 3. 38 ERA.
“Sometimes you have to tell other people what you’re doing so you can motivate others to do other things too,” the right-hander said. “So that’s not why we do it, to win a prize or a trophy, however, it’s great to be identified by it. “
The Cardinals’ previous winners come with Lou Brock (1975), Ozzie Smith (1995), Albert Pujols (2008), Carlos Beltron (2013) and Yadier Molina (2018).
The award is regularly announced in the World Series, but this year was postponed until Monday due to the pandemic.
Wainwright’s idea of donor collection at the base level in 2013, when the base is just beginning.
“We’ve noticed it affects, see how food has helped people. We’ve noticed how water has replaced people’s lives and how medical services have replaced people’s lives,” he said. “And to see him in person, he’s powerful. “
