S’pore can bring back Covid-19 restrictions like wearing a mask if needed, with the Ministry of Health tracking XBB Wave

Covid-19 cases are behind in Singapore, and the government is not ruling out bringing back some restrictions, adding the use of masks.

In an update on the latest wave of XBB instances on Saturday, October 15, Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said they are doing their best not to disrupt people’s lives.

The Ministry of Health (MINSA) is closely monitoring the situation.

At a Ministry of Health press conference on Saturday, October 15, Mr. Ong addressed the increase in the number of Covid-19 due to the wave of XBB infections.

He explained that Singapore had never declared Covid-19 to be endemic or no longer a risk to social fitness as some countries have done.

Instead, Singapore to “let the action and our lives speak for themselves. “

Mr. Ong pointed out that in the successive wave that our country has gone through, the government has relaxed security measures (SMM). Now, almost all measures have been dismantled.

In reality, Singapore lives as if Covid-19 were an endemic disease. After all, we are now riding the wave without SMM.

NGOs under pressure that Singapore will do everything it can to never go back to the days of the circuit breaker, high alertness or anything that disrupts our lives in general.

With that, Ong suggested Singaporeans take on private tasks and take precautions as covid-19 cases rise.

Test yourself, isolate yourself when you’re not feeling well, wear your mask if you don’t feel well.

According to CNA, Ong also asked those living with elderly people to put on their masks. In case of infection, existing protocols 1, 2 and 3 still apply.

Most sensibly, Ong reminded others to get vaccinated if they are eligible.

On Friday, October 14, Singapore began administering the bivalent vaccine. Approximately 4,200 vaccinations were performed.

For other people over the age of 50 who have not received all 3 vaccines or whose last vaccine was more than five months ago, Mr. NGO told them to go to a vaccination center and joint testing to receive the bivalent Moderna vaccine.

He shared that he won his punch, and this time there were no appearance effects.

As cases mounted, hospitals also limited visits.

In the update on Saturday, October 15, Ong and Director of Medical Services Kenneth Mak said hospital capacity was increasing. Hospitals can handle the existing wave of Covid-19.

For now, Ong said those are the measures the government has implemented. However, if the scenario were to worsen, it is possible that other measures will be implemented in a way that “harms our lives. “

The first apparent step will be to “put the mask back on, say or and take off” if the stage requires it.

The next option would be the return of differentiated measures compatible with the vaccine, he said. These measures had previously been lifted on 10 October.

But Ong added that the Health Ministry is largely tracking the XBB wave and has an effect on the fitness formula to see if any of those measures are necessary.

At the moment, no resolution has been taken.
