MADRID – Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will announce on Sunday a new state of emergency to combat the outbreak of coronavirus infections, media reported, adding the newspaper El País.
The state of emergency will give regions, which, because of their own fitness issues, force to impose stricter restrictions on travel, adding curfews. They can also curb businesses and restrict other activities such as the organization of internal and external household collection.
Several developing regions have called on the government to implement the measure to allow them to impose curfews.
Spain imposed one of the highest serious blockades at the start of the pandemic, and then eased the measures during the summer, but like many other European countries, it has experienced a wave so far in recent weeks, and now has one of the numbers of infections in Western Europe. The total number of cases increased to 1,046,132 on Friday, when the death toll approached 35,000 (written through Jessica Jones and edited through Frances Kerry and Catherine Evans).
