MADRID – Spain has diagnosed 3650 coronavirus infections in more than 24 hours, the ministry of fitness said Friday, with 3,349 cases reported a day earlier and raising the cumulative total to 386054.
The ministry said 125 other people had died from the virus in the last seven days. The death toll in seven days reported on Thursday 122.
Deaths from the virus have increased since Spain lifted a three-month blockade at the end of June, but is still well below the levels seen at the peak of the epidemic at the end of March, when the daily death toll reaches 1000
While infections have slowed since Friday’s post-lockout record of 7,609, this decrease may not be a trend, as similar declines have been followed by new highs in recent weeks. The most recent figures can also be replaced in the long term, as official statistics are updated retroactively. (Report through Nathan Allen, edited through Andrei Khalip)
