‘Someone Knows Something’: Sask. com Searches for Answers After Man Goes Missing

A family is looking for answers 17 days after a Maple Creek, Sask. man left his home in the community – with no one hearing from him since.

Byron Watson, 23, was last seen in Maple Creek on the morning of Nov. 26. Numerous ground and drone searches in and around the southwest Sask. community have turned up nothing.

Along with RCMP and Watson’s family members, many from the community have joined in the search. So far the search area has covered about 170 square kilometres.

Those involved in the search for Watson have all agreed the situation is an uncommon one for the community.

“Someone could have gone missing for 24 hours and then reappeared, but we’ve never lost a pass without a trace, it affects the entire network and it affects everyone,” said Maple Creek Mayor Michelle McKenzie.

Watson’s family uses every investigative strategy at their disposal, including social media and online tracking of any potential leads that might lead to answers.

Watson’s bank account is also under constant surveillance, and his circle of relatives collects his last paycheck at work.

Watson’s aunt, Lori Watson, says her other nephew, who is just 3 years old, is asking for answers.

“He asks where his Uncle Barney is, how do we tell him we don’t know where he is?” she asked.

“Right now, with no leads, we want someone to talk, there has been a $5,000 reward mentioned above, but we want guidance,” Anthony Buffalocalf, who is part of the study team, told CTV News.

“Someone knows something: we’re a small, tight-knit community. Data is available and we want it.

The team says they will continue with their paintings and wait for this data to lead to what happened.

Maple Creek is located approximately 380 kilometers southwest of Regina.

Anyone with knowledge of Watson’s whereabouts is asked to contact Maple Creek RCMP at 306-662-5550 or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
