Spanish photovoltaic developer Solarpack has structured its solar allocation of three hundred MW in San Martín in Peru. He said the site will be the “largest” in the country when completed in the second quarter of 2025.
The San Martin project is already contracted under a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Peruvian private electricity provider Kallpa Generación, one of the largest players in the country’s electricity market. The companies did not disclose the duration of the PPA, but said that it was signed on a “long-term basis” for the entirety of the plant’s capacity.
Located in the district of La Joya, in the province of Arequipa, Solarpack said San Martín is expected to produce more than 830 GWh of solar energy annually and use “state-of-the-art” technologies to maximize its efficiency. Tech reached out to Solarpack to learn about the site’s technologies and vendors.
Solarpack has a giant presence in South America. In March 2022, it signed a contract with the Ecuadorian government to expand large-scale regional allocation at the 258 MW El Aromo site, which it claims would be the country’s largest.
In early December, the company signed two PPAs with an anonymous “global utility” for an annual generation capacity of 475 GWh in its local Spain.
