The Venice Film Festival has revealed the coronavirus protocols that will be applied at this year’s event, which is expected to begin in just over two weeks. Scroll down to see the full measurements.
Venice is expected to be the first major festival to hold a physical edition since early March. However, amid restrictions and new epidemics in Europe, Asia and the Americas, foreign assistance is expected to decline significantly than in past editions. Many industry professionals we spoke to, adding those who have already booked pieces of their vacation, are still evaluating their presence regardless of the speed with which recommendations and restrictions change.
Venice is often a release pad for films at the Oscars, but this year’s programming is low in U.S. studio fees due to the pandemic. Surprisingly, the occasion focused on a major program of essay films and global art.
Italy has controlled a momentary wave to date, however, in recent weeks coronavirus cases have increased across Europe, with Spain, France and Belgium among the highest affected. The UK has now reintroduced some 40 for those arriving from France, a resolution that has been reciprocal through the French government. Some Italian regions have already implemented quarantine measures for others arriving from Spain. New Zealand and Australia are among the most remote countries to see a resurgence of cases, while Brazil and the United States remain among the worst-affected countries.
Below is a summary of the protocols that the festival communicated to visitors arriving from outside the EU (“excluding Schengen or equivalent zones”). Most protocols apply to all visitors.
All consumers arriving from outside the EU must make a covid check 3 days prior to departure. Negative checks must be presented at the border with a letter of invitation from the festival. A copy of the result must also be sent to the festival prior to departure.
Guests arriving from outside the euro domain and staying less than 120 hours at the festival must perform some other pattern within 24 hours prior to arrival. The festival will arrange the check and the canopy of expenses. Positive controls will result in containment.
For visitors arriving from outside the EU and staying more than 120 hours, a third mandatory swab will be taken after five days, organised again through the Biennial. The festival says that while waiting for the effects of the moment and the 3rd samples “visitors deserve to wear a mask and maintain a social distance”, and avoid any tourist activity.
Non-Schengen citizens who have resided in the Schengen domain for more than 14 days before arriving in Venice will want to carry out the tests. British visitors must also carry out the tests, the festival confirmed.
There will be nine “access doors” to the festival with thermal scanners that take the temperatures of all incoming guests. No one with a temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius will be able to access the area. Additional thermal scanners will be placed in outdoor cinemas in the main centre of the festival.
Disinfectant liquids and gel will be prepared for the public to have at their disposal in all spaces (cinemas, lobbies, meeting points, etc.).
According to the festival, all spaces will be cleaned regularly, adding theatres, ‘service spaces, cars and water taxis’. Hotels were also asked to adhere to cleaning protocols.
Social distance will be required for all festival activities. The number of seats will be reduced in all cinemas and press conferences. On the red carpet, photographers will distance the property from each other and those on the carpet. During the photocall, the number of photographers will be reduced and distances will be set.
No public spectator will be allowed to gather outdoors on the red carpet, and there will be no autograph search/signature. However, arrivals on the red carpet will be broadcast live on the festival’s online channel and on national television.
The festival says it will “reduce to the internal areas of the festival.”
A mask will be required in all external spaces when the distance is not imaginable or difficult, and should be used when entering all internal spaces. Masks deserve to be lined up and located in cinemas and news theaters and conventions.
Tickets and reservations will be made exclusively online, in queues. During this time, all participants will be tracked as they enter theaters and other buildings.
There will be a release in the published documents, with the maximum of the data delivered to the public in electronic form.
As usual, the festival will have an on-site emergency relief facility, controlled by the fitness authorities.
