This defence needs publication takes into account and incorporates advances in the assessment of sites for nuclear facilities since the publication of the IAEA Safety Standards Series No. NS-R-3 in 2003. Implements IAEA Safety Standards Series No. SF-1, Fundamental Safety Principles. The needs of the site assessment are intended to contribute to the sufficient coverage of the body of workers and the public on site, as well as to the protection of the surroundings from the destructive effects of ionizing radiation from nuclear installations. It is identified that generation and clinical wisdom are advancing nuclear defense and what is considered good enough coverage. Security needs evolve with these developments, and this publication reflects the consensus among states.
