NEW DELHI: Ships of the First Training Squadron (1TS) comprising INS Tir, Sujata and CGS Sarathi arrived in Port Al-Shuwaikh, Kuwait, on October 4, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The ships are deployed to the Persian Gulf as part of their deployment.

The ships received a warm welcome through senior officers of Kuwait’s naval force, border guards and the Indian embassy, as well as schoolchildren, the ministry said.

The three-day port of call includes engagements, ship-to-ship visits, network outreach activities and social interactions, he said.

The ships of the 1TS, in Kochi, are part of the Southern Naval Command, Training Command of the Indian Navy.

According to the ministry, the deployment of the 1TS aims to disseminate apprentices for the realization of other advances at sea and port familiarization.

This deployment also provides an opportunity to disclose to interns India’s socio-political, military and maritime ties with friendly countries in our maritime neighbourhood.
