‘She’s My Queen’: Ebb and Flow First Nation Couple travels to London for Queen’s funeral

A couple from Ebb and Flow First Nation in Manitoba travelled to England to pay tribute to the Queen in person.

Matthew Houle and his Pearl Baptiste-Houle are in London to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8 at the age of 96.

“My wife is realistic, I couldn’t let her come alone,” Matthew said.

This is the first time the couple has visited London for real reasons.

“We went to Prince William’s royal wedding and the birth of baby George, we’re almost a family,” Matthew said. “And now we’re here for the queen. “

The two men have been doing the adventure in recent days, exploring London, visiting Buckingham Palace and sites.

They plan to see the funeral in Hyde Park, where screens were installed for the public.

“When we were here for the royal wedding, there were about a million people around us. I’m sure they took that into account,” Matthew said.

He says it’s a historic moment and they just need to be a part of it. “I think he’s up there with Neil Armstrong on the moon and the fall of the Berlin Wall. I think it’s like the most sensible thing of the century. “or the last two,” he said.

For Pearl, it’s the culmination of a lifetime of love for the queen.

“I’ve been a follower for 50 years. . . she is my queen,” he said.

The couple tried to attend the public display of the Queen’s lie in elegant conditions at Westminster Hall, but the queue was too long.

“When we arrived, maybe it was 18 hours of waiting,” Pearl said.

“I dissuaded her from that, she’s going to stand in line for so long,” Matthew said.

They say the Ebb and Flow network at home continued their journey.

“They stick to us. In a sense, I brought all my reserve here,” Matthew said.

The funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will begin on Monday, September 19 at 11 a. m. m. local British time or at 5 a. m.
