SHENZHEN, China (Reuters) – The IBC shopping mall that used to buy groceries in Shenzhen’s Luohu district was cordoned off and under police surveillance on Friday night, with another 200 people lining up outside waiting for evidence of COVID-19 from the of medical personnel with uniform protection.
An official WeChat account channel of the Guangdong Health Commission said the alert was triggered through a COVID-19 case at the mall.
The case shown is a 41-year-old woman who worked at the Alibaba-owned Freshippo supermarket as a promoter of transit logos until Aug. 2, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The employee diagnosed in lufeng’s hometown of Guangdong said the commission. Three members of his family circle also tested positive.
An epidemic in the city of Urumqi, on the western edge of Xinjiang, reportedly caused in July by an employee at the mall.
On Monday, the Shenzhen government announced that 3 Chinese nationals returning to the southern Russian city had tested positive for the virus while under quarantine.
