Imagine the strength of a bunch of young people and teenagers around you with a natural and unconditional love. This is what TPG members experienced when we traveled to Accra, Ghana, with an organization called PeaceJam.
PeaceJam is a non-profit organization with which we have collaborated since 2014. Her project is to inspire young leaders committed to replenishing themselves, in their communities and around the world. The organization inspires them with classes and painting outings inspired by the lives and paintings of Nobel peace laureates such as the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu.

“I’m proud that The Points Guy and Red Ventures are supporting this,” said TPG founder Brian Kelly, “because it’s not just kids who get advantages of this program. I am firmly convinced that this makes TPG workers more aware of it and that our company can be strong and also that the more we give, the more we receive. Red Ventures is the parent company of TPG.
In fact, we have been on a project for years for the next generation of leaders in many countries, adding Ghana.
Each PeaceJam convention provides leadership training, organizing activities, and a stop at a Nobel laureate’s home.

This year, Tawakkol Karman, a pro-democracy journalist who stood up to an authoritarian leader in Yemen. She eventually won the Nobel Peace Prize and co-founded the organization Women Journalists Without Chains.
TPG and PeaceJam are also mentors to prominent young leaders. In 2018, we introduced the Global Impact Youth Scholarship.
So far, we have sponsored more than 20 young leaders as “TPG Fellows” who are selected to earn money for higher education. Not only do they get assistance with tuition and living expenses, but each intern is also paired with a TPG worker. from whom they can get recommendations and guidance. Everyone has a mentor in the U. S. When we visited Ghana, many of us met our apprentices for the first time. I met David Karmon, whom I’ve been coaching pretty much since 2020.

“I would say PeaceJam means hope for the future,” Karmon told me on the campus of the University of Ghana in Accra. “PeaceJam brings other young people together in combination and transforms them, helping them to be agents of change, helping the network to improve. “
Karmon needs to develop the leadership skills he learned and one day give back to his local Liberia, perhaps through an organization like the World Bank.
TPG is also helping to fund and organize annual PeaceJam meetings in other countries such as Liberia, Guatemala and South Africa.
This convention isn’t just the fact that TPG Fellows brought their mentors together for the first time in person. It is also the first major gathering for many academics at a PeaceJam event since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s a joyful time for a giant collection to celebrate the future.
“I know it means a lot to them,” said Lauren Coffaro, who directs the PeaceJam program. “For many of those students, they’ve never had this fun in their young lives. “
There were more than 750 fellows who were able to share their service projects and learn new skills such as peace and conflict resolution, human rights, teamwork and leadership. It was a way to spend a few days finding the struggles and victories of the next generation.
They are incredibly motivated young people who can share stories of private struggles, whether against poverty, discrimination or sexual abuse, through stories of survival and resilience. “Something that has guided me in my life is that your determination would be your destiny,” said Wisdom Addo, who runs the PeaceJam Ghana program. He described the PeaceJam demonstrations as a way to inform large numbers of people.
“I’m amazed at the skill point we see here with the PeaceJammers. . . This program is really very important because the school formula in Ghana, in many of those poor communities, is letting students down,” Kelly said. “Although PeaceJam does not intend to update a school formula, a little is enough. The operation of the program is relatively affordable and we have a massive impact. And that’s not just what we think; this is what we know because, at the conference, young people have a voice.
“There are a lot of tactics to help PeaceJam,” Coffaro said. “We have chapters in 15 countries around the world with programming in more than 40. There may be a PeaceJam in your network paintings that you can use as a volunteer. Of course, we are also a non-profit organization. . . the maximum of our investment comes from charitable donations. So if someone is motivated to paint with their employer or with a netpaintings foundation, or even separately to help raise money with PeaceJam, to give back, that’s a massive fix.
If you want to participate in the PeaceJam Foundation, you can sponsor a young user or a school to be part of PeaceJam in pacejam. org/donate.
In the past, we also partnered with United Airlines’ Miles on a Mission program, which allows consumers to donate unused miles that are then distributed to charities. This is how we brought Tawakkol Karman to Accra. (We’ll find it later this year. )
“There are a lot of young people, especially in Africa, who are going through a lot of things,” Addo said. “I think this show has been an icon for them. My purpose is to make it bigger for the total. “from Ghana
There is so much need. You can help.
