Senators from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan discuss the problem of the Aral Sea

SAMARKAND. KAZINFORM The speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Maulen Ashimbaev, and the president of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbayeva, participated in the assembly of the Committee on Cooperation between the Upper Houses of the Kazakh-Uzbek Parliaments, reports Kazinform.

In welcoming the participants, Maulen Ashimbayev noted that Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have built a constructive and trusting discussion that corresponds to the spirit of friendship and good-neighborliness between our nations.

“Our leaders are an intelligent example of cooperation and interaction. It should be noted that Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev made his first stop as head of state in sister Uzbekistan. After the state stopover of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in December 2021, our association has reached the point of allied relations. The committee for cooperation between our chambers is actively painting. I would also like to highlight the active paintings of the two co-chairs of the commission,” Maulen Ashimbayev said.

“The shrinking of the Aral Sea has been identified through the UN and the entire global network as one of the global environmental mistakes of the current era. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are implementing a number of measures and projects to particularly stabilize the scenario in the Aral. sea region,” Ashimbayev added.

The senators also discussed issues of interregional and cross-border cooperation, as well as strengthening the twinning between the two countries.

Tanzila Narbayeva thanked Kazakhs for system-wide paintings on building inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Assembly attendees summarized the effects of the implementation of the roadmap on inter-parliamentary cooperation for 2021-2022.

At the end of the meeting, participants developed a series of recommendations, adding the continued participation of parliamentarians to address the consequences of the Aral Sea disaster, tourism development, water resources management, ensuring security in Central Asia and other spaces of interaction.

From 27 to 28 October, the Uzbek city of Samarkand hosted the autumn consultation of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.
