Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) announced Thursday that he was tested for COVID-19 ahead of a scheduled vote on a Senate bill.
Durbin is fully vaccinated and doubly strengthened against COVID-19, and has minor symptoms of his infection, he wrote on social media.
“In accordance with CDC guidelines, I will quarantine and comply with my doctor’s recommendations while continuing to paint remotely,” Durbin wrote.

Durbin announced the positive result of his verification ahead of a vote on the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, which was accepted by Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). The vote on the bill, which he likely wants from the 50 Democratic senators for approval, will likely be delayed until Durbin returns.
