NEWNAN, Ga. —The managers of Semperit A. G. Holding two years ago invested nearly $10 million to begin producing products in the United States.
After a year of searching for possible sites, the company contracted a facility in Newnan, built to Semperit’s specifications. The new plant is located just south of Atlanta.
Semperit has since moved its North American headquarters, warehouse and distribution from Stone Mountain, Georgia, to the Newnan location.
Semperit, founded in Vienna, Austria, opened the facility a few months ago, fulfilling the company’s long-term plan to expand its success in the Americas.
However, the company’s official opening rite at the new facility was postponed until June 9 due to COVID-related issues.
The most recent plant has an area of approximately 151,000 square feet and runs entirely on renewable energy sources, which, according to the company, is in line with Semperit Group’s goals of protecting the environment, reducing waste and reducing energy consumption.
The company now employs another 70 people at the Newnan site, a spokeswoman said.
The new premises have administrative offices; the industry with production lines for sealing components, adding construction façade seals, window seals and road and bridge expansion joints; and the distribution branch with a complete diversity of sealants, conveyor belts and pipes.

The company has operated a distribution center in the region for nearly 40 years and, as a result, has consistently recorded strong expansion in North and South America in recent years, the company said.
“The new headquarters and production facilities will further increase the power of our operations, allowing us to better manage our supply chains and logistics,” said Irene Coughlin, general manager of operations in the Americas.

While the Newnan plant will be primarily engaged in the production of sealing components, the plant’s warehouse and distribution center will continue to purchase pipes, belts, and other products.
The conveyor belts are manufactured at the company’s factory in Poland, while the pipes for the North American market are produced in factories in Austria, Thailand and the Czech Republic, the spokeswoman said. They are then shipped to Newnan’s warehouse for distribution to corporations in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
