The news startup has hired 4 more workers for advertising and financial coverage.

Gina Chon hired as a business and technology writer.

Chon is a recent columnist for Reuters Breakingviews founded in San Francisco, where he writes about the tech industry and similar political issues. She was previously founded in Washington, D. C. and wrote op-eds on economics, trade, and regulation. He joined Breakingviews in 2016 from the Financial Times, where he was a law enforcement and regulatory correspondent covering white collar crime and cybersecurity.

Previously, Chon was a corporate reporter for Quartz and spent seven years at the Wall Street Journal in New York, Baghdad and Detroit, writing about mergers and acquisitions, the Iraq war and the auto industry. He also wrote an e-book about the Khmer Rouge, trained journalists in Iraq and wrote from his local Seoul. He won the 2017 Reuters Journalist of the Year award for his comments on the Trump administration.

Liz Hoffman hired as a financial and business writer.

Hoffman is a senior reporter in New York, covering Wall Street for the Wall Street Journal. He joined the Journal in 2013 to cover mergers and acquisitions and announced news of some of the biggest corporate mergers of all time, adding Burger King and Tim Horton’s, Baker Hughes and Halliburton, Dell and EMC, and a hostile bid for Hershey’s, his corporate titan.

He then covered investment banking, spawning a series of front-page articles and scoops about Goldman Sachs’ rise on Main Street, the setbacks of the world’s largest venture capital fund, and the balance sheet of the coronavirus pandemic in money markets.

Bradley Saacks hired as a journalist.

Saacks covered the coverage budget for Business Insider for more than 3 years before leaving in June as chief content officer for 3i, a new personal network of investors with access to an exclusive transaction feed.

He interned at Bloomberg News and Austin American-Statesman in college. He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in journalism.

Louise Matsakis hired as a technical journalist.

She is part of NBC News’ technical research team, which covers Amazon and TikTok. She has been in the rest of the world as an editor covering technology. He also worked at Wired this year.

Semafor had in the past hired Reed Albergotti as a generation writer.
