MINSK, Nov 1 (BelTA) – State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich met with Stanislav Zas Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Minsk on 1 November, BelTA learned.
Aleksandr Volfovich and Stanislav Zas exchanged perspectives on foreign and regional security. Belarus’ participation in the functioning of the Collective Security Treaty Organization was discussed, as well as the progress made in implementing the resolutions of the special sessions of the Collective Security Council. Events planned for next year were also mentioned.
Stanislav Zas spoke about the efforts of the CSTO Secretariat to prepare the normal sessions of the organization’s statutory bodies, which are scheduled to take positions in November 2022. Other problems related to the CSTO’s domain of duty were also mentioned.
Aleksandr Volfovich drew attention to Belarus’ arrangements for the presidency of Armenia’s CSTO next year.
The priorities of the Belarusian presidency will be aimed at improving existing mechanisms and creating new mechanisms for the Collective Security Treaty Organization to respond to crises.
