Secretary of Education tests for COVID-19

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden’s education secretary got tested for COVID-19.

Miguel Cardona, who has been vaccinated and strengthened against the virus, was tested Tuesday and has mild symptoms, the Education Ministry said in a statement.

He tested positive in the morning after attending Halloween festivities at the White House. Biden and his wife, Jill, hosted a trick-or-treat party at the White House on Monday, but the Education Department said they are close contacts of Cardona, as explained through the Centers for Disease Control and Proccasionion.

Cardona, 47, hosted the elementary school cheaters at the Department of Education on Monday and then spoke at the annual meeting of the Association of Art Museum Directors.

The lead education officer will continue to attend meetings and perform his duties while running remotely and in isolation, his firm said. You will return to in-person meetings when you test negative.

Cardona is among several Biden management officials who have COVID-19, adding CDC Director Dr. Anna S. Rochelle Walensky, and the Secretary of Health, Xavier Becerra.
