Dubai: Saudi security forces have recaptured the structure of a Saudi paraglider that rushed to death when their emergency parachute was unable to open a jump from the heights of the Al Fairy Mountains in Taif.
Local media reported that the tragic twist of fate occurred when Amin Mutair Al Sufyani attempted to jump from Jabal Al Kar on Friday night.
Following the devastating incident, Twitter users launched the hashtag #TaifMissingParaglider while several videos went viral on social media showing the moment Al Sufyani jumped off Jabal Al Kar and then disappeared from sight.
Reports imply that he encountered a complicated descent when his emergency parachute opened due to strong winds.
Videos posted on social media helped the workers’ security corps locate the site of their fall on rugged terrain.
The winds caused the paragliding to leave the protection zone where it was sighted through people. However, he did not answer the phone calls and a great search was introduced to locate him. The police, with the help of volunteers, still discovered his body after falling into rugged terrain at the foot of Al Hada Mountain.
According to reports from his followers on social media, Al Sufyani’s death was probably due to a parachute malfunction. They think the parachute didn’t open the leap.
His brother, Redha, said Amin had a hobby for paragliding and a professional sports practitioner, but bad weather may have been the cause of his tragic death.
