PARIS (Reuters) – Saudi Arabia’s project to the International Space Station next year aboard a SpaceX capsule will come with a woman who would be the world’s first Arab woman astronaut, according to Axiom Space, the US company organizing the project to the kingdom.
Neither Axiom nor the Saudi government provided the call for the female astronaut, who will be accompanied by Saudis and two Americans as part of Axiom’s instantaneous personal project to the space station, scheduled for early 2023.
A U. S. official familiar with the project said the Ax-2 passengers had not yet won approval from a panel of foreign partners from the area station chaired by NASA. The identity of the astronauts is not publicly disclosed until this panel has given its approval.
Reuters first reported on Axiom’s deal with Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, and that the project is scheduled for early 2023 from a deal signed earlier this year.
