Saudi Arabia says new Omra app will enrich pilgrims’ experience

“The recently followed measures will loosen and motivate Omra’s companies, especially at a time when bookings are made on various electronic platforms,” Al-Maddah said, adding that this would allow foreign pilgrims to “deal directly” with Omra corporations by phone, compliance and other means other than external agents.

“This will loosen Umra’s business and performance, allowing them to market their facilities in and out of the Kingdom,” he added.

The progression occurs days ago when, after a seven-month suspension due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Saudi Arabia said it would allow pilgrims living in the country to offer the Umra from 4 October, the official news firm SPA reported.

Saudi Arabia instituted an Omra freeze in March due to the coronavirus pandemic and last year, 19 million more people practiced Umrah.

Based on the reports of the competent government related to advances in the fight against coronavirus and in reaction to the aspirations of many Muslims at home and abroad to practice Umra and make a stopover on, and on the basis of fear of sensible control of the fitness and protection of climbers Two sacred mosques, real approval is issued to allow the functionality of the Umra and scale gradually with the taking mandatory preventive fitness measures,” says the one issued through the Ministry of the Interior.

This year, Saudi Arabia organized a limited Haj, the largest pilgrimage attracting some 3 million people, for a few thousand citizens and residents.

Official knowledge shows that haj and Umrah contribute about $12 billion a year to the kingdom.
