Saudi Arabia: Hajya cardholders can take Umrah

Cairo: Holders of Muslim-priced tickets for World Cup fans, known as Hayya Cards, can make any pilgrimage or umrah to Saudi Arabia, a Saudi official said.

Holders of the same cards can also visit the Saudi holy city of Medina, added Khalid Al Shamiri, deputy director of the visa branch of Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry.

Last week, the Saudi government said the state would cover electronics prices similarly to issuing a flexible access visa to the kingdom for Hayya card holders attending the soccer World Cup kicking off in Qatar next month.

“This visa is free, but the holder will have to take out compulsory medical insurance with the Tasheera [Visa] platform,” the official told Saudi television Al Ekhbariya.

The visa will be valid to enter the kingdom from November 11, 10 days before the start of the World Cup.

The visa holder can spend up to two months in the kingdom, the official said, adding that tens of thousands of Hayya Card enthusiasts have implemented to download the Saudi visa.
