Cairo: Saudi health authorities have recommended certain vulnerable categories of people to take an updated vaccine against COVID-19 after a new variant of the pandemic was recently detected in the country.
The Ministry of Health has urged those categories to make an appointment to get vaccinated through its Sehaty app.
They are known as pregnant women; other people age 50 and older; fitness professionals who directly care for patients; other people with chronic immunosuppressive diseases, in addition to active cancers; and those at risk of infection due to exaggerated obesity.
The updated COVID-19 vaccine is taken to avoid the headaches of the disease and is effective against prevalent variants, according to Saudi Arabia’s Public Health Authority, which said the vaccine is legal for people 18 and older and can be taken regardless of the number of previous vaccinations.
