Veteran actor Satish Shah revealed Sunday that he tested positive for Covid-19 last month and thanked the medical staff for “restoring” their fitness to normal. The most productive 69-year-old actor known for his paintings in exhibitions such as Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai. Sarabhai and Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi entered Lilavati Hospital on July 20 after contracting the new coronavirus. He was released on July 28.
“Surely I’m fine now. According to protocol, I have to be quarantined until August 11. I had developed a fever and suppressed it while taking the medication. But then I asked to test myself and the result was positive. I went into the hospital immediately.
“I would advise everyone to do this because they watch you 24 hours a day and you may have complications. There’s nothing to be afraid of,” Shah told PTI. Hours earlier, the actor turned to Twitter to thank the medical staff who took care of him.
“#Lilawatihospital I cannot thank the angels there enough for restoring my fitness to normal. God bless you all (sic),” he wrote on the microblog site.
Shah said he had planned to announce his diagnosis of Covid-19 after his quarantine ended, but after actor Abhishek Bachchan revealed that he had tested negative for Covid-19 on Saturday, he asked to express his gratitude to frontline workers. “You mustn’t panic over Covid-19. This only creates headaches if you have fitness problems. In my case, it’s basically the question of age that made me cautious. But now I’m fine because of God’s grace and I’d like people to stay positive,” he added.
