SANTA CLARA COUNTY, Calif. – The Santa Clara County Department of Public Health reported 4 more coronavirus-related deaths on Wednesday.
The most recent raises the number of deaths in the entire county from COVID-19 to 237.
The county also reported 94 more cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, bringing the number of county-wide cases to 16393.
As of Wednesday, 142 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized in Santa Clara County, 39 of whom were being treated in extensive care units.
Elsewhere in the Bay Area and beyond, the state of California has secured a contract with a Massachusetts-based company to more than double the verification capacity of the COVID-19 coronavirus, shorten effects processing times and verify costs, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Wednesday. .
