The number of Covid-19 instances in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region exceeded 2,254,767 on 13 October, according to Worldometer’s knowledge collected through MEED.
GCC countries account for 38. 6% (869,515) of all regional cases, while Iran accounts for 22. 4% (504,281).
Saudi Arabia is the maximum GCC country affected by Covid-19, with 339,615 cases shown to date, with 325,839 cures and 5,068 deaths.
On 12 October, the Saudi Ministry of Health asked patients with uncontrolled diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, cirrhosis and coronary heart disease, among others, to suspend plans for Omra, as the dangers of Covid-19 persist around the world. On 30 September, the Ministry of Hajj and Omra announced a three-phase plan to organize the Umra.
The vaccine has gained a flat in the United Arab Emirates-led Mena region, which has shown 107,293 instances of Covid-19 to date, with 98,555 recoveries and 446 deaths.
Phase 3 trials of the adenovirus-based vaccine called Sputnik-V were announced on 12 October that they had begun in the United Arab Emirates from the alliance between the Russian sovereign wealth fund for direct investment and Aurugulf Health Investment.
The trials will be conducted through the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, overseeing the Ministry of Health and Prevention of the United Arab Emirates, with medical protocols controlled through abu Dhabi’s public fitness provider, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company.
Russian vaccine trials occur after the United Arab Emirates decided to participate in the Chinese company Sinopharm’s Phase 3 vaccine trials in July.
More than 30,000 volunteers participated in the procedure and more were registered in limited quantities in Bahrain, Jordan and Egypt.
